going seventeen | mc boo's dangerous invitation
premise:
an installment into the series of seungkwan's retro show parodies, taking from the show "dangerous invitation" and the flying chair game, where interviewers are launched into a pool if the interviewee does a prohibited action.
comments:
hella funny !! i love that they picked the notoriously weak-willed dokyeom as the interviewer (i'll cite bungee jumping and white zone here) and i loved getting to see each of the orbiting members bar seungkwan give pretty earnest questions to him despite the ridiculousness of the circumstances.
there are some standout moments despite how many times each member gets launched into the water that i really loved and i'm sure will make their way into the carat/cubic lexicon, like vernon appearing as a ghost or woozi saying 'oh my god' every time he got launched into a pool. i also loved how some members got splashed even despite it not being their forbidden actions. jun's "why me??" always gets me! despite that though, i feel like the water game got stale quite quickly, and i think even the members started to get tired of it... which is pretty rough tot get through, especially since that's kinda the only gimmick this episode has going for it. especially when dokyeom figured out the action and would just keep doing it... i just wish there was more for them to do this episode!
on another note, i did like how they acknowledged seungkwan's energy level towards the end. it made for a very human-feeling ending, especially this far into seventeen's careers, and called back towards carnival, imo.
ranking:
concept: 6.5; quite funny.... at first. but then it happens 20 times for one member, or maybe 3 for another, and it just gets old or feels imbalanced.
chemistry: 6.5; also a bit rough since there isn't much room for the members to interact with anyone aside from dokyeom
enjoyment: 7 ; honestly it's just not an episode that can be rewatched, especially if you've figured out the forbidden actions
overall - 6.6/10
