seventeen go on their third mt ("member training," or a bonding retreat), without the presence of staff for a "hyperrealistic" documentation of seventeen's activities.

WE'VE MADE IT! the episode that has survived on 2nd place of this ranking this entire time since i started ranking gose episodes in may. now DOES IT HOLD UP? well, yes... but with a big asterisk next to it.
the thing is i have seen don't lie 2 the most out of any going seventeen episode. however. i have probably watched the specific sequence of seventeen playing every drinking game under the sun more than every episode of don't lie combined. why am i saying this? because i didn't actually laugh too too much watching this episode, at least not in comparison to most of the other episodes i've been watching over the past two days. but instead of a lack of enjoyability, it's because i have just seen this episode so. many. times. i know it like the back of my hand. their hongsam and s.coups game i can recite word-for-word. i have SO much familiarity with this episode that nothing catches me off guard anymore. except when it does.
there's a lot of endearing parts of this episode that are so small that i simply forgot about them: vernon calling seventeen a "24/7, 365 field trip," joshua's habit of hitting people when he laughs, the pre-trip minghao/vernon/wonwoo car photos (these are actually photos i recreated with my cousin and sister back in 2021 after this episode aired!!!!), joshua cooking (That's literally it I'm biased I love my man), the $700 spent on groceries, jeonghan and mingyu tucking hoshi in, jeonghan jeonghan-ing with secretly trying to leave early, dino being a performative male reading in the backseat before performative male was a term, and wonwoo and vernon just being an overall underrated duo (i miss them • ᴖ •). something especially heartwarming to me was the callback to seungcheol's feature on superwoman. i love our leader coups.
but there are also SO MANY PARTS that i've seen SO MANY TIMES. and part of comedy, to me, is the surprise. when you've seen this episode so many times, that surprise is gone. but that doesn't take away from the fact that they're AMAZING AND ICONIC MOMENTS!!! dino's sentimental speech turning into a video message for hyunsuk pd (and the dk pov to accompany it) with the haw-haw origin (tribal games review coming soon!), sleepy barefaced jun becoming a cuckoo bird for snapshoot (barefaced-teen in general), joshua and seungkwan leaving seungcheol in the parking lot, "jeonghan got hit in the face with age" (i quote this comment All The Time), soonyoung getting drunk too early on karaoke, the consequences of soonyoung getting drunk too early (["hoshi keeps trying to kiss me!" "he's a little tipsy"])https://www.tiktok.com/@anelderlymeme/video/6931627011437808901?q=hoshi%20keeps%20kiss%20me&t=1793686002504)), the return of jukgu and tribeteen (thank you sportsmanship thank you china line thank you post-credits scene and mingyu getting a ball to the face... almost as funny as the double nut kick in ttt 2), vernon asleep in the other room (He Is Fine), yoonzino's debut with minghao cheering him on from the outside, EVERYTHING about the drinking games (the birthday celebrations, the group photo, the s.coups game and the elevation with hoshi's dance (P.S. i have never heard 2ne1's fire before this. It's just the s.coups game song to me), everything about the hongsam game, joshua's ttururu, dk's take a shot dance, every silly little movement s.coups does (he's so cute in this episode!!!! this is such a good ep for coups fans)), and SHELLFISH VERNON. it's SO GOOD. i just HAVE to comment on all of this because. it's just SO GOOD. and i am not having as extreme of a reaction or commentary on this episode because i have seen it so many times. it literally is just seventeen hanging out. and somehow. SOMEHOW. it is THE most quotable going seventeen episode. and still is. i don't make the rules.

concept: 10; i have complained already that the best part of ttt is when the staff leave the members to their own devices. this is the episode where they listened. it's the best one. and they follow this concept going forward.
chemistry: 10 assa hongsam
enjoyment: 10; i would be stupid to rate it any less. the only reason why i might not have enjoyed it as much now is because i've seen this episode no less than five trillion times.
overall - 10/10, she keeps her rightful place
