WOW! i can really tell the going team was reflecting on what makes gose work because this was a really, really fun time! the 'no rules' premise with such a bare-bones structure that allows for all sorts of cheating, foul play, and sabotage is always so fun to watch, because if there's anything i love watching more than seventeen teaming up, it's seeing seventeen throw that out the window so every man can fend for himself (i'm surprised i didn't see a 'He is Seventeen' subtitle in this episode).
this episode allows for so much tomfoolery, backstabbing, and plot twisting that it's actually crazy. it's like the cat-and-mouse of the chaser/the tag, the strategy of hide & seek, and the frenzy of the scavenger hunting in don't lie all rolled into one. for such a simple concept, i'm surprised it spun into an hour of content that never once felt boring! spoilers, but jun ending up finding the spoons twice?! (let's not forget the legendary moment of him finding the treasure in don't lie 2). seungcheol turning the pillow into his personal death note? vernon being revealed to have had the white spoon the whole time - and given by the staff, no less? seungcheol completely passing the box with a spoon and his name tag, to the shock of minghao and us cubics? seungkwan swiping seungcheol's pillow? mingyu sneaking the spoon into dokyeom's bag? dino's confusion the entire episode? seungcheol's crazy eyes? and joshua getting the penalty despite not having done anything the entire episode? there are LITERALLY too many good moments to list from this episode. this one's going into the great rewatchables for me - i just wish hoshi, woozi, wonwoo, and especially jeonghan were here to play alongside everyone else.
ranking:
concept: 9.5!
chemistry: 9; the conflicts are so funny and it's hilarious seeing that abcd were the only alliances that didn't betray each other
