(i will actually be spoiling all three episodes here so be warned)
coming out three years after the last insomnia zero comes what ii think will likely be our last installment (i will explain why i think this later) but man did it end with a bang! with even less reliance on the inside jokes than they did in insomnia zero ii, i think this one is probably my favorite one so far -- and that's saying something considering my ult and my second bias left in the first round. there are some genuinely iconic moments like the return of tribe-teen with vernon's turn ("is this level of bullying allowed?") and wonwoo acknowledging the ai magnetic cover (which is INSANE by the way) and recreating it in what might beat 'tasty' for my favorite insomnia zero moment (and that's saying something). this episode in general is golden for wonwoo fans (me).
a weakpoint i previously mentioned, the inclusion of the staff in insomnia zero ii, is instead swapped out with a new concept of answering the questions from the fans, which i think was a really great and welcome addition! it added more interaction with the fans and added fuel to the fire for the more intense rumors that were put forward by the members (when you get to the third installment, even if there's a three year gap, you're going to run out of ways to shit talk the members), so i thought this was really great. even if hyunseok's self-made jokes were funny to me.
with jihoon being the ultimate loser all three times and wonwoo ending up with him in second-to-last place 2 out of those 3, i think the 'biological unfairness' i brought up with insomnia zero ii has really become clear. no matter what, jihoon just has a really variable heartrate :( so i don't think we're going to get anymore insomnia zeros for jihoon's sake. but what we got are certainly still some of the most hilarious episodes of going seventeen by far, and it'll be a while before these eps are beat.
