hoshi hides in a secret location in seoul, leaving the rest of seventeen to look for him using his video hints. (meant to make up for hoshi's lack of screentime during mousebusters, a whopping 37 seconds across an entire hour)

happy birthday hoshi!! spoilers to follow. i actually really liked this episode quite a lot and i like that, aside from the chatroom game in white zone, they haven't tried to recreate this because it's ultimately one of the most sentimental and sweetest episodes thus far, allowing all of seventeen to take a trip down memory lane while revealing a lot about hoshi. see, i became a fan of seventeen almost 10 years ago now, with the first show that i watched from seventeen being one fine day in yeosodo. hearing about seventeen's trip to cheonggyesan predebut, how they spent the new years' day hoping to hit it big, seeing them now, and reminiscing with them over that day together is just my kind of episode, and not really something you get too much of when you watch the usually lighthearted and comedic gose.
seeing how each of the members go tackle this challenge in so many different ways is super duper fun and definitely one of the most memorable parts of gose! woozi was right - this episode is almost like a mini-ttt. there is the most detective-oriented team, joshua, jun, seungkwan, and dino. one of the highest points of this episode is when dino figures out hoshi's location. the way everyone immediately goes :O when they realize everything fits together matched my exact reaction. plus, seeing seungkwan utilize his outgoing personality to get a major hint on hoshi's location really hit the nail on the head! watching the "team" style activities across the teams was super cute, from the woozi/vernon/seungcheol/mingyu team's bread run and 1 hour long trip ("i'll protect the car" "do you think the car will get stolen?" "cars always get stolen in gta") to jeonghan/wonwoo/dokyeom/minghao's wordplay game and complete abandonment of the mission to go to hangang. i love that despite the focus being on hoshi we get to see the sides of the other members too!
not to say hoshi is overlooked either!! his aim of going back to their predebut spot reflects hoshi's tendency towards sentimentality leading to his chosen hiding spot, to his silly videos and hints, to hyunseok's silly conversations with hoshi ("i can get to bong joonho in four steps") highlighted his introvert nature as well, in a silly way.
plus the finisher of watching them eating at the same place they did all those years ago was just so heartwarming :') i've seen this episode before (albeit a while back) but it felt like i was watching this for the first time again! (literally, because i forgot everything lol). a surprise contender for a favorite episode!

chemistry: 8.5; SO MF GOOD! granted the group is split up for most of it so u don't see many whole-group interactions, but still very very fun
enjoyment: 10; we ball. happy 30th hoshi!!
