comments:
oh i LOVE this episode and (tho i haven't seen the one for thunder) it's probably my favorite comeback special and such a wonderful treat for cubics and carats alike! the return of pi cheolin is something i truly loved (again, i must've done a backflip of joy or something when his debut was announced), and i really love the characters in this episode as well! the ad-lib trio of hoshi, joshua, and minghao is lowkey a combo we haven't seen much of at all so i loved seeing them paired up! the soft launch of wonwoo and jeonghan as leo and charles is something that i didn't see coming and their roles in this were seventeen's got talent level funny. vernon lowkey just acting as himself in the studio was hilarious because like what is he doing here !???!!??!! and seokmin showing himself to be a total comedian is funny as always (the 'mom sorry' reminds me SO MUCH of his english in the green room days). plus the lyrics are so hilarious and funny (the dajiahao / xu minghao and 'my middle friend's name is park jihye' are just gold) and i'm floored to see mingyu and jun got ACTUAL writing credits on this song.
the ending is also hella funny with dino finding out the song was sold to both him and seventeen, with everyone asking "what are we going to do?!" i actually got sad for the poor guy. can't blame him for debuting himself to save his company tbh!
and what i think i love most about this comeback special is that it extends outside of the episode itself. the fact that god of light music was actually released as a track alongside a remix of god of music, plus the performance of god of light music at caratland (something that ... if i was there for you'd never hear me shut up about), and the increasing defictionalization of pi cheolin? perfect. just perfect. god of light music truly was a legendary episode and something i fear you just can't recreate
ranking:
concept: 9; what a great concept to have them parodying their own song as trot!! it makes me happy to no end that they performed god of light music at caratland and that pi cheolin is getting a debut!
chemistry: 9; if you look in the background, jihoon's perpetually trying not to laugh and that's me too
enjoyment: 9; a total gift for gose fans!
overall - 9/10
